Is Now a Good Time to Start Your Business?
There are many reasons for why now is a good time to start your business.
We are living through historic economic times as COVID-19 makes its impact on businesses across the globe. Tony Robbins calls this a “winter season.”
But cold and harsh as it may be, there is always a place for warmth and light. We need our business owners to open so that we can get the things we love the most.
That book we’ve been waiting for (e-books just ain’t the same!), our favourite coffee, smoothie, yoga pants, socks, screwdriver, art supplies and so many other things that make us light and happy!
With extra time on our hands, we can do one of either – go inward, slow down and heal, so that we are ready to take on the world again; or go outward, create and make some of our best work so that we can serve those who need us most.
Both are positive and productive ways to navigate this “winter.”
Whichever way you choose, when the time comes for you to open or re-open, it is important to remember these 3 simple facts below and push forward.
1. Winters Are Good
61% of all Fortune 1000 companies were formed during a recession. Recessions provide opportunity for attaining new talent, availing of small-business loans or grants, and reduced interest rates.
A shift in consumer spending also tends to happen toward services and products that provide better quality and customer experience. Get to thinking about how you can cater to these new needs and challenges and go for it! No service is too small.
2. Mind Over Matter
Success is 80% psychology and 20% strategy. In times like this it is paramount to “Feed and Strengthen” your mind every day. Try mediating for a short while, 10mins can work wonders! There’s tonnes of free meditations on YouTube or try the HayHouse free meditations podcast.
Yes, everyone says to do this, but that’s because it actually helps. Short walks or exercise of any kind will also help to keep your brain fresh, focused and strong. Don’t sigh, it’s easy – think small – just 10 star jumps and a right and left body stretch will do the trick!
Write a plan! It doesn’t have to be a big complex business plan, but a plan of some kind will get you on your way. It could be; researching, writing, creating a post, sending an email or even calling Hark 😉. Try a weekly plan to start. Set 3 goals for each week and let the excitement of achieving your goals “feed and strengthen” your mind.
3. e-XPAND Your Horizons
Yes, you heard it here first! This is the time of e-commerce boom. While the number of physical storefronts are declining, e-businesses are skyrocketing. So many benefits come with having an e-commerce business. You can reduce waste, minimise pollution (not travelling in your car each day), save time and cut costs too.
This shift can open your business to a broader consumer base; expanding your reach beyond the local community to regional and international audiences, allowing you to grow faster than ever before. If local is your focus, you may be surprised at how many people within your community didn’t know your business and now are very happy customers.
Lots of technologies exist now that can help you with your e-business. It’s easier now than ever before to launch (or re-launch) your business!
At Hark, we are launching an “Essential E-Biz Toolkit” that shows you how to get your business online and thriving in less than 8 weeks. Get in contact with us to learn more about that and how you can get your hands on it!
